Duncraig Castle near Plockton in Scotland
It's been a while since I've had time to look through my Scotland photos to see if there's anything I want to add to my gallery. There definitely is, and I added the above photo to my website last night.
You'll probably think I'm crazy if I tell you why I love this photo.
I've never aspired to own a castle (all that upkeep would just weigh me down!). Still, I do aspire to spend the day enjoying myself on a beautiful boat, diving into the water at the end of the day and swimming to shore, enjoying cocktails followed by an amazing dinner with all my family and friends, and then spending the night in a beautiful four-poster bed with curtains in a big beautiful room in a castle!
How's that for an exercise in daydreaming?
Well...I didn't actually get to go inside Duncraig Castle. Last year when we were visiting, the castle was up for sale. Before it was up for sale, a British couple owned it and rented it out as a luxury Airbnb but that only lasted about a year from what I could find on the internet.
Before the British couple, the owners were another couple, also from England, who bought the castle and brought most of their extended family to live there. The whole thing devolved into a family nightmare of squabbling and lawsuits. There's even a reality TV show about it called The Dobsons of Duncraig (I haven't seen it but I may have to try and find it). Apparently, the castle comes with a curse - the curse of millions of dollars in renovation costs!
I love a good story and Duncraig Castle comes with a few of them, so I had to add this to my Scotland gallery.
When I go back to Scotland someday, maybe I'll get to lounge on a sailboat and stay at the castle!
What do you daydream about?
Have a great rest of your week:)
And, see you between the raindrops!
xoxo,
Susan
